Sooooo, hi guys.

Hehe, oh man, this is gonna be such a long blog post!!

Okay, it’s been 2 months since the last update, and guess what, these two months have been…tumultous, to say the least. Two major things happened. First of all, Gil finally got a job! YAY! He’s doing some computery shit at some computery place and stuff, you know, the stuff nerds like him do C:
And the second thing is…well, I changed my job!! And quite a change it was. I went from giving customer service for people who had Comcast in Chicago to working as an illustrator in a Mexico-based studio that’s doing stuff mainly for companies in the US. We do comics and pin ups and, well, we do a lot of stuff, hahahaha. UNFORTUNATELY, the studio (and my old translating job) take up a lot of my awake time, so I haven’t really been able to focus back on the old things, like 4CC.
A couple days ago I was thinking about 4CC, and started reading the archive from beginning to end. After being done, I thought “What the hell?”, and this strip came out.

I really missed these guys ;_;.

I’m rusty with the characters, I can’t say it was too easy ahahaha, I’ve been drawing realistic shit and stuff for the studio, so going back to CARTOONY and trying to keep the characters looking like themselves was a bit of a challenge. BUT NOTHING I WASN’T ABLE TO OVERCOME.

SO ANYWAYS!! I’m rewriting the original scripts to keep me excited about 4CC, I even started drawing random panels for future strips, so, while I’m not entirely sure how long it will be before the next strip, at least I’m promising it will be here soon C: It all depends on how much free time I’m left with Dx.

Soooo, in the end, I’m still here, 4CC is not dead, and I’m SO surprised that I actually keep getting readers even during the hiatus. Seriously, you guys are the best. I don’t want to disappoint :C, although it’s probably a little late for that, hahahaha.
Oh, this arc will go back to being funny soon, I promise :’D.

I bet you didn’t see it coming today, huh? Yeah, me neither. This morning before taking off to work I decided I wanted to take 4CC up once more, so I finally put my mind to it and now here it is. I finished the lineart later when I got home and Gil colored it super fast. AND WHAT DOES FERN DO WHEN HE COMES BACK FROM A MONTH LONG HIATUS?

A depressing strip.

I guess there are a lot of things that have been happening, not excuses at all actually! I don’t know if any of you guys know, but Gil and I are now roomies in Monterrey. He’s working and I’m gonna start school in August.

This is madness. But we’ve managed to live together without stabbing each other’s eyes out. As of yet.

Also, now I can play Gil’s I have a PS2, so I can also make nerd jokes! Yay! They’re gonna be super outdated, but who gives a shit?
Anyways, pretty much everything is good, cept for my job, which sucks, but we carry on, haha. I encourage you to expect more strips from now on, as well as the prizes you deserve my dear contest winners ;n;.

I wonder if someone noticed the style change :’D. What do you guys think?

OKAY GUYS.

This is it.

The final, and first, huge prize goes for Ricardo Álvara, who sent me this very awesome webcomic that was focused on Sara’s crush, a topic that hasn’t been touched for a while, but is a very important plot element. Anyways, I loved pretty much everything about his entry. Even if he changed some of the characters’ looks, I think the way he portrayed them represents their personalities very well, and well, I loved his work on the expressions, the dialogue, and well, pretty much everything. This is why the first prize goes to him, I hope you like it as much as I did!

I’m not sure if it’ll work, but i’ll try uploading the original image size hoping that you will be able to click on it and not see it super small. I still have to figure out how to make it fit in and letting you guys read the small letters (that was the only drawback!!). In the meantime, you can just right click on the image and go to “View image” or something like that, and you will be able to see it full-sized C:.

But anyways, congratulations, Ricardo, and well, actually congratulations to everyone who sent me an entry, I loved them all, they all made me laugh so much, and they were all so well done. I love you all ;n;

As Gil mentioned yesterday, I still haven’t got access to a stable internet connection (right now I’m at a cafe that’s close to my work, but it’s like midnight xD), so I might not be updating in a whiiiile. I’m not sure when I’ll get internet at home, but I’ll work on some strips so that when I have the chance I will upload some scheduled posts and the like, okay?

TRUMPETS AND FANFARRES! Here’s the second place winner for the contest. This time around it’s our friend Zirta with her PG-13 guest strip. To be honest, it was the LAST thing I expected to get from someone like her, but it was a great surprise nonetheless. Specially because it gets a side of Cambel that’s obviously there, but never comes outside of his dreams. There might even be some clues here as to what will happen in the future. Not only that, but this strip was also one of the best crafted graphically, and I could really tell that Zirta put a great effort into it. Not that other strips didn’t have any effort!

So, well, I want you all to go and congratulate her for making it to second place on our contest, okay? You can also find this strip on her website 8D.

Now I will have to leave you because I’m moving to a new apartment in around 5 hours …

Third place goes for the very pleasant Blak-D3ath with her completely and adorable non-sensical strip. The thing I loved the most about this one is that it doesn’t even try to explain anything. It’s like “Oh yeah, I was listening to the ocean in a seashell AND THEN THERE WERE DINOSAURS”. This made her win about 4 internets.
Also, there’s a Lau Cruise face. You can’t not love that..

Okay so, I’ve been wondering for pretty much two weeks about how I will present the winners for the Anniversary contest, AND I FINALLY CAME UP WITH A GOOD IDEA. The 3rd place strip will be posted here on two days. That is on Friday morning. Then 2nd will be posted on Sunday, and 1st place will be posted on Tuesday. When I announce 1st place, all of the strips submitted will be uploaded to a gallery dedicated to the contest fanstrips. How’s that? I SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT LIKE A MONTH AGO I’M SORRY ;_;.
I’m a bit slow :’D…

Also! Well, you can imagine my surprise when about a week ago my friend Zirta posted her strip on her website, and then I had a flood of visits that day. IT WAS OVER NINE THOUSAAAANNNDDD. Okay, it was ALMOST nine thousand, but shut up, I wanted to say it >:C. So, uh, I want to welcome all of you new reader guys warmly, with this horribly sugary strip, haha. I’m still ashamed that the updates are going so slowly, but the good news is that my job isn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be |D. Let’s hope it stays that way.

Okay, so. I’m trying. I’m really trying to get back on track with the timing. It’s just so… I don’t know, drawing things isn’t coming out well at all, and that’s kinda scary. I can’t seem to focus on anything. It’s partially my fault for letting so many drawing-related things bulk up on me at a time in which I don’t have the time or space in the mind for them, but I should be able to cope with it. Sometimes I open Painter to stare at the screen for hours before I fall asleep on my chair, which is actually pretty embarassing.

I want that to end right now…

The results for the contest should be up sometime tomorrow. I still have to take care of some language editions in all the contestants’ strips, but that shouldn’t be a big deal.
